Its been a busy time!

It's been a while since I last wrote....well, Christmas has now been and gone, it is one of my favourite times of year, I love the decorations, the build up, the lights....and more lights (You CAN NOT have enough, EVER!!) and this year dinner was at my house again.

I didn't burn the turkey, or serve it raw, but it was 30 minutes later than I planned and my roasties STILL need to be perfected, but other than that, it was good. I'd like to say at this point, gingerbread stuffing by Nigella Lawson is rather tasty.

So, now it feels like its all back to normal, even though its New Year's Eve today. My decorated lovliness will be taken down on Saturday and the house will look normal and not so many lights. Yes, that's right, not sooo many...I keep some all year round. Well, I love them, so why not?

It's a busy time for me, I've got a couple of new ventures starting which need a lot of prepping, so as soon as the holiday is over, its nose to the grindstone.......in the mean time, its looking forward to an exciting year!

How does my garden grow???

So, todays inspiration is about goals and dreams you'd like to achieve.

I have several dreams, some BIG, some small, and some just seem beyond the realms of reality.

The one dream I will write about right now is one for a long term project over the next 12 months at least. Earlier this year, we finally got permission to use some land at the side of our house to make into a lovely sized garden. Our home lacks a garden, somewhere nice to sit, and entertain in the Summer (?? IF we get some that is!)

So, this piece of land....we hoped to have started to sort it out, and get some planting done, a few paths and so on. The grand plan was drawn up, some plants were selected, things were looking good. Then life happened. And happened some more.

Sadly, the garden waited, and waited.....not much has been done it this year. My husband did borrow a digger and made a trench to dry out the garage, but not much more than that in the grassy area.

That's him in the picture, "Bob the Builder", MY husband, doing some practice digs. I must say he thoroughly enjoyed himself doing this and happily played all day.

This was the original paved yard at the back of our house, which has had some work done on it this year so we can actually sit outside, when the weather lets us.

As usual in our home, one relatively simple job turned into about a dozen. We planned on building a deck, a couple of weekends work I was assured, no more. Oh foolish girl, why do I continue to believe these things?

When the concrete was dug up to put the deck down, it was discovered the main drain was cracked. So that was changed. Then the downpipe was moved and other drains diverted to accomodate. In the process of doing this, roof tiles were looked at. The list of extra jobs grew longer and longer. All these extra jobs took time, they are all unseen now the job is done, but the job is undeniably a good one. (picture to follow)
So, this is the garden we have to create. I use the term garden very loosely, because obviously, right now, its nothing, a blank canvas to paint a magical picture on.
Neither of us are what you would call gardeners, more of the "dig and destroy" types, so to say this will be a challenge is perhaps an understatement.
So, I will post at periodic intervals over the coming months, to update on how the garden is coming along. The album is planned, preliminary shots have been taken, and the coming year will see my garden grow (unless of course life happens again!).

A memorable day...

So, todays prompt is to discuss a memory, so one of my most memorable days, probably THE most memorable, has to be my wedding day.
This was a fantastic day, and I loved every minute of it, I loved my dress, my husband looked lovely, the food was great, our cake was out of this world (and STILL gets talked about 7 years down the line!) but there were a couple of teeny tiny clouds over the proceedings, some I found out about at a much later stage...
I have chosen to show the signing of the register for two reasons, firstly, I love it, I think its a good one of both of us, but secondly, and importantly to me, my surname officially changes at this point, and this was a big thing to me. I wont go into the details right now, but it has taken a long time to adapt to my new name.
And now for something completely different...I'm still getting to grips with this technology side, I can see me roping in my other half to help at some point, this is his area of expertise! But, I'm enjoying the journey, and its still early days, I'll be cooking on gas by the end, I just know it :-).
Soon, I hope to actually have the time to do a layout to include, but for now, there's a whole heap of stuff on my plate, so its the "drive thru" option today.

Just setting out...

So, this is my very first post, ever. I had been thinking of this for a while, and then up popped the on-line class for blogging, so I thought "Why not?"
My intentions for doing this are:
1. To learn more about the whole topic
2. To record some of my life I don't have time to scrap right now.

I don't think I'll have time to post every day, but I will when I can.

I'm looking forward to it, if I can just sort out some of the technical things that frustrated me last night!
